If You Want to be Happy, Then LEARN to be Happy

Earlier today, I read about a guy named Wong Sun, someone who is happy whether there is rain or whether it is Monday morning…  And, he is in the shoe repair profession.

Mr. Wong Sun, the happy shoe repairsman

I think, really, that happiness is not where you travel, what you do, or what you have, but rather is about finding the inner peace within.

I think just being able to do a good job at whatever it is that you or I are/am doing and to feel satisfaction from doing so goes a long way towards that inner peace.

So, here is to Mr. Wong Sun!  May we all have that inner peace and joy!

Greater understanding and love of oneself to better understand and love others

Below is a letter I sent one year ago just before 2012.  For personal development reasons, I thought it may be useful for some of my readers who may stumble across my website.

My dear beloved brothers and sisters,

While reflecting on my own strengths and weaknesses, my core competencies and shortcomings, I noticed some very interesting things and also some interesting trends from where I was 5 or even 10 years ago.  It seems some of who I am has not changed a bit.  It also seems that I have improved in many areas while falling back in a few other areas.

It dawned upon me that I cannot be using this tool for my own personal development only.  These are amazing tools and you guys deserve to be using them for gaining better insight into learning who you are.  At the end of day, month, year, decade, or our life as a whole, only things that really matter are who are we, who were we, how did we treat others, and how much impact have we made in the world… was it positive; where there rooms for improvement; did we really give our best; have I enjoyed my life; and have I loved and created more enjoyable life for others…

The only way to truly understand and love others is to really gain better insight into who you are and to better love yourself.

I heard the above many times before, but I did not always truly understand this.  I am sort of slowly getting better insight into this, but I think this is 100% absolutely true.

In any case, without further dues, I can recommend you two tools that you can use on annual basis to review who you are and where you are.  Please let me know if you know other great tools.

All the best in 2012.  I wish you love, health, and prosperity in the new year.  May you achieve great things, may you also take the time to understand and love yourself and each and everyone you meet along the way.  Have a great and wonderful journey in 2012.

George Sheridan Was an Amazing Man – Let’s All Learn to Love, Give, and Understand Like Him

This morning, I received a very unfortunate news about a dear friend who has recently passed away.  I share this news with you because there is something really amazing about him.  Even after he passed away, he still loves others and he still gives others.  He gave away his organs so that others could live.  He has created a fund at his church to help continue his efforts in Mongolia.  This is really truly remarkable.

I am little bit surprised to hear the news because he was a healthy and energetic person.  He went back to US to be with family, I was told.  It is entirely possible that he wasn’t feeling well and/or even knew that his time was limited.  He really wanted to help others, and you could see it in his eyes and in the way he gave his attention and time.

I am very happy to have met someone so wonderful.  Religious differences aside, I know his spirit and/or energy will continue on, and that is a very good thing.  I truly wish him and his family, friends, and loved ones the best.

Below is his obituary that I received via email today.  Let’s all pray for him and his loved ones.  Let’s also pray that all of us will develop the compassion, love, and understanding for each other in the way that George loved us.

Radioactivity from Japan – The Real Story

The Tokyo Electric Power Company is now saying that it will take nine months or more to secure the Fukushima Daiichi power facility from the meltdown that it is experiencing. As I’ve said here earlier, it’s been hard for me to figure out exactly where truth resides in all of the excited reporting coming from all directions. This much seems clear: a great deal (more than 100 tons) of radioactive material began to be discharged onto the land, sea and air. Exposed fuel rods in empty, cracked cooling pool may soon release 130 tons of uranium directly into the environment. Some of the reactors were dramatically out of control and melting down. TEPCO Confirms Reactor 4 Spent Fuel Pool Is Now An Uncontrolled, Open Air Fission Process.

Here’s an informative, but critical, assessment of a number of aspects of the distribution and potential impact of the radioactive plume. Radioactive Currents and Winds The radioactive particles (not radiation) are being carried around the world, primarily in the northern hemisphere. The reach of this fallout is quite extensive. Europeans have already been warned to avoid drinking milk or eating vegetables due to high radiation levels and significant radiation levels have been measured in some areas of the western US. Radiation Found In San Francisco, CA Tap Water – Rainwater Radiation 18,100% Above Drinking Water Limit (There’s an interesting, animated forecast of the airborne distribution of the particles near the end of this piece.) For data on increasing radioactive iodine levels over time in various cities across the entire U.S. Both Korea and Singapore, among other countries, have measured increased radiation in their food. Japanese imported vegetables in Singapore ‘radioactive.

In the sea near the plant, the radiation increased to the highest level ever seen in history: Level of Radioactivity in Seawater near Fukushima Plant Near Hitting Record. The dispersion into the ocean, though concentrated in relatively narrow areas, is modeled to be extending quite far out to sea. Fukushima Daiichi Radioactive Seawater Model

Recognition for My Presentation at AIESEC Mongolia’s Business Event 2011

Yesterday, I gave a presentation at Mongolia University of Science and Technology (MUST) to aspiring college students at AIESEC Mongolia’s “Business Event 2011”.  In return, I got a nice little certificate, which I am proud to put up on my office window.

I will add that I was very happy to have a captive and interested audience. I was happy to have many interesting questions. Hopefully, I was able to share some useful thoughts to my guests.

BTW, the topic of my presentation of “Using technology for personal development”. I used the same presentation slides that I used at Tavan Bogd group, when I did a training of the executives at the company. However, this time, my presentation was in Mongolian language and I tried to tailor my messages to the young and hopeful crowd as much as possible.

This was my second event with AIESEC.  In February, I did an Entrepreneurship workshop at their National Leadership Training weekend.

…And then it is Winter. The Seasons of Our Life

Winter Season of Our Life

You know, time has a way of moving quickly and catching you unaware of the passing years.

It seems just yesterday that I was young, just married and embarking on my new life with my mate. And yet in a way, it seems like eons ago, and I wonder where all the years went.

I know that I lived them all…

And I have glimpses of how it was back then and of all my hopes and dreams… But, here it is.. the winter of my life and it catches me by surprise… How did I get here so fast? Where did the years go and where did my youth go?

Things Are to Be Used, People Are to Be Loved

—-Source: I got an email from a friend. I thought it really worthwhile to read and to think about, so I posted it online for all to read.  Thank you, MC—-

While a man was polishing his new car, his 4 yr old son picked up stone and scratched lines on the side of the car.  In anger, the man took the child’s hand and hit it many times; not realizing he was using a wrench.

At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures.

When the child saw his father…..with painful eyes he asked, ‘Dad when will my fingers grow back?’  The man was so hurt and speechless; he went back to his car and kicked it a lot of times.

Devastated by his own actions…….sitting in front of that car he looked at the scratches; the child had written ‘LOVE YOU DAD’.

The next day that man committed suicide. . .

Anger and Love have no limits; choose the latter to have a beautiful, lovely life…..

Things are to be used and people are to be loved, But the problem in today’s world is that, People are used and things are loved…

During this year, let’s be careful to keep this thought in mind: Things are to be used, but People are to be loved … Be yourself….This is the only day we HAVE.  Have a nice day!

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits they become character;
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

Philosophy of Life: A Mexican Fishing Village

I got this from an email from a friend.  I think in short, you already should be living your life the way you want to live it.  Don’t throw away the future, but don’t overlook the present either.
A boat docked in a tiny Mexican fishing village.

A tourist complimented the local fishermen on the quality of their fish and asked how long it took him to catch them.

“Not very long.” They answered in unison.

“Why didn’t you stay out longer and catch more?”

The fishermen explained that their small catches were sufficient to meet their needs and those of their families.
